I'd Like to Thank the Academy . . .

Okay, it may not be an Oscar, but I'm just as honored.  I received the Honest Scrap award from a few bloggers, and I've just been slow in posting it.  My bad!  But I would like to thank the academy, errr, actually ummm, Kim of  The View of White Pine Lane, Jane of Fabulous Findings and Geo of  Decorator to the Stars for this award.  To receive an award from your peers, is well . . . like they like me, they really, really like me!

So here are the rules that must be followed upon receiving this award: 1) Say thank you and give a link to the presenter of the award. 2) Share "10 Honest Things" about yourself. 3) Present this award to 7 other blogs.  4) Tell those 7 people they've been awarded the HONEST SCRAP award and inform them of these guidelines.

Now personally, I hate doing awards (oops, sorry), and I usually don't seem to get them passed on (sorry again).  But I'll try to stay in the spirit of things, so here goes.  I've done this before so I'll try to share some new things about myself.
  1. I met my husband at church.  I was in a play and he came to almost all the performances.  He sat in the front row!  It must have been love!
  2. I love to travel and some day hope to visit Paris.
  3. I have a special needs daughter who loves hockey.  She started skating at four after watching the Mighty Ducks.  She now skates for her high school JV team the Andover Huskies, for the MN Special Hockey Team (for which she was the inspiration for it's start) and for the New Jersey Dare Devils Special Hockey Team.  It is very cool!
  4. I love chocolate cake!  Mmmmm!
  5. I tend to be a repurposer more than a creator when it comes to "junk" projects.
  6. I have two good friends both named Sue W.  They both are extremely creative, and both were once gymnists.  Weird!
  7. I love taking minnie vacations with the hubby to local hotels and bed and breakfasts.   Good "us" time.
  8. I think I'm an internet-aholic.  Ask my husband and kids.  I may need therapy!
  9. I also am a collect-aholic.  I collect scales, clocks, anything metal, numbers, letters, architectural pieces, brown transferware, restaurant ware, ironstone . . . you get the picture.
  10. Lastly, I believe in Jesus, as I know him.  I believe in miracles as I have seen them.  I believe in redemption as I have experience it, and I believe in forgiveness as I received it.
So now I have to pass this award on to seven more bloggers.  So I present this award to . . . drum roll, please:
  1. Melissa of Junk-Fest
  2. Robin of Three Shabby Chicks
  3. Janis of JunkDreams
  4. Noreen (aka JunkerMidge) of  Havin' fun with Junk (and Life in general)
  5. Julie Pierce of The French Flea (she's a new blogger, but she get's this for all the fabulous things she does at The French Flea Occasional Market Place in Anoka).
  6. Sue Wolfe of DestinationArt.  I know she doesn't post, but she definately deserves one for all her creativity!  She rocks it!
  7. Lastly, but certainly not least, Rose of Second Hand Rose.  Another new blogger, but she's getting it for all she has done in the Twin Cities Metro Area (Mpls/St Paul) for starting the whole occasional sale craze.  Where would we all be if it wasn't for her.  You go girl!
Whew!  I made it through.  These things are really a lot of work!  I guess that's why I'm not a big fan of them.  But I wanted to praise the above for all they have done, whether by blogging, or just encouranging and inspiring.  Thanks to each and everyone!

PS  To those who received it, no need to feel you have to continue this award.  Just wanted to know you are appreciated!

PSS  And for those like me who don't like a TON of reading, but prefer a TON of pictures, my apologies!  LOL!

PSSS This is my 100th post!!!!!  I am having a give-away soon!  How soon?  Very soon!

Down on the Farm . . .

Wowzers!  This was one heck of a sale.  I had no idea what I was in for.  Like I said, wowzers!

Started seven years ago, The Country Junk Sale is held on a farm in Monticello, Minnesota, and this, there fall sale, had some truly amazing, one of a kind  finds.  Don't know why I hadn't heard of it before.  Guess it was a well kept secret.  Where have I been?  Who knows.  And unfortunately, for this sale, I didn't get there early enough, and as they say, the early bird gets the worm, or in this case "junk".  By the time I got there, a lot had already been sold.  Bummer!  Thankfully, I still was able to snatch up a few cool things, and take some fun pictures.

Besides junk they sold pumpkins, gourds, corn stalks and apples.  They also raise chickens, so there were a lot of chickens, and a lot of crowing going on.  Though the cold and the rain were a bit of a hindrance, I was glad a ventured out.  But next time, I'll be sure to get there early!

Loved the huge cupola!

Susan (also a dealer at Second Hand Rose) looks like one happy customer!

I was lucky to snatch up the smaller cupola.

The owner of this great sale.  Oops . . . I can't remember his name. My bad!

They had a wide selection of apples.  Mmmmm good!

They even had exotic pumpkins.  Blue pumpkins are my favorite!

I loved all the chickens.  They fascinated me, but they sure were noisy!

Looky who I ran into!  It's Krista and Dana of Snowman Hill.   Fellow JUNKMARKETstyle members!  They came all the way from Duluth, MN.

I also ran into Laurel (Chipping Charm) and Gretchen (Mimitorias Designs), who are also fellow JUNKMARKETstyle members.

The Country Junk Sale is held twice a year, once in the Spring and once in the Fall.  It is located at 9650 Harding Avenue, Monticello, MN.  Stay tune to my blog for info on the spring sale.

Find Your Prize in Minneapolis!

Boy oh boy!  If you live in or near Minneapolis, have I got a sale for you! This is definitely what I would call a whale of a sale, and I don't think you'll want to miss it. Put on by Hunt and Gather, "Prize" as they call it, is definitely a prize of a sale. And I think you deserve it, don't you?

The sale, located in St. Paul's Episcopal Church , is close to the downtown area, and is the perfect setting for this fun, hip shin dig. I was able to tag along with my friend Amy, of Junkologie and Whisperwood Cottage, who just happens to be selling there and I am so glad I did! There are so many cool, unique, amazing, phenomenal, one of a kind, spectacular . . . well you get the picture. Or maybe I should just show you the pictures.

Loved these pillows made from French bicycle race numbers. Oh, la, la!

Boy do these bring back memories!

I love lockers, and locker baskets!

These bank deposit boxes were so cool!

This was one of those big books. It made me laugh!

These poor dolls have lost their bodies. Might be fun at halloween!

Oh . . . these are right up my alley. Love the metal with the black!

I feel pretty, oh so pretty . . .

I think I've lost my head!

Giddy up, Cowboy!

I wanted this . . . some one snatched it up before me :(

There's no smoking!

My friend Amy brought this. It is SO COOL!

Getting us into the mood!

Ok . . . I really love all of this!

Oh, I guess I found my head, or should I say heads!

Abra-Cadabra, Presto Chango!

No parking here. Need to be shopping!

I wanted this table. Someone beat me to it, too! I'm so not happy!

Do you have your Moxie on?
