Though these iron pieces were pretty filthy and needed a good scrubbing, I loved their patina.
They also needed a clear coat of poly. I used a matte finish versus shiny. I wanted to keep their distressed integrity.
I had no clue as to what they were until I cleaned them and found the enscription "log rest".
I love how long and thin they are. With a few candles added, one of them fits perfectly on my fireplace mantle. It's rustiness also works great against my patchwork tin piece.
But when I need to entertain, I grab the other one and with the addition of a stone cutting board (another occasional sale find) I have an instant serving piece!
Wa-la! Anyone in the mood for a party?
Nummy...I love my Brie Cheese!
Or how about using one with these European soda bottles and some cheery daisies? They're just "delightful"...and I'm so ready for spring!
The bottles have some beautiful etching on them. Another great find!
