How to Build a Chest of Drawers????

Okay, maybe I didn't build this set of chest of drawers, but I did have to put them together.  And I think I did quite well, if I do say so myself!

I found this uber cool piece at a local occasional sale.  Loved all the many drawers it has.  Did I say LOVE?  The only problem with it?  It had been spray painted with a thin coat of silver spray paint.  I didn't mind the silver, just didn't like the spray job.  So here's what I did.

I first sanded (excuse my language) the crap out of it.  I use a Black and Decker Mouse Sander and a medium grade sandpaper.  It allowed some of the original wood to come through.  Then I added a coat of Fiddes & Sons colored wax, this color being Rugger Brown.

The really fun thing about this piece?  It's a stackable set!! And if for some reason I want it to become shorter, I can!

I feel like a kid putting together my building blocks!  I guess you're as young as you feel!

Good thing someone was smart enough to number the drawers!  They only know me too well!

On the top of one of the drawers were these instructions.

And if those weren't clear enough for me, here are some more explicit instructions.  Boy do they know me!

All complete!

I love how all the drawers have different handles.  Much more interesting than them being all the same!

With the addition of a few accessories, it all fits together just . . . perfectly!

Spring has Sprung at the Round Barn!

I am so happy it's finally warming up here in Minnesota.  It's been a long, cold winter and I am in desperate need of a pick me up.  If you are like me, there's a place in Andover, MN you can go to!  Grab a cup of coffee and wonder a round (and I do mean "a round") the beautiful 100 year old Round Barn filled to the brim with new and vintage wares!

I've been a consignee, and former employee, of The Round Barn Potting Co., for almost 10 years and is a  favorite place to go to when you need your "retail" fix.  And "wow", is there a lot for you to see.  From primitives, to industrial, to french-style antiques, it has something for everyone.  And pop in this weekend, you're just in time for their Spring Sale going on from May 15-18.  So hurry on over and check it out.  You will find sales on handbags, florals, and soaps and lotions.

So now sit back, grab a cup of coffee, listen to the music and enjoy the pictures!

French Flea April Sale - "Old Hollywood Week"

Man has this month been busy!  I have been overwhelmed with the things life brings your way.  Not that I'm complaining mind you.  God has been good, just keeping me busy!

I really can't believe it's another sale at the French Flea!  Didn't I just post last month's?  I haven't been posting too much, the AAJMS sale has been all consuming (and boy is it gonna be good)!  But I can't not (oops--double negative) post on this great sale, now can I.  The sale this month is "Old Hollywood".  What a fun theme!  Here are some pictures, but for more info, go to their blog at thefrenchfleaofanoka.blogspot.com.

Hope you've enjoyed the pictures.  This looks like a fun sale this month.  Hope you can make it!  I'll also be posting some sneak peeks of the AAJMS sale, plus some other pictures of shops I've been to lately.  Stay tune!
