Graduation Decoration on the Cheap!

My baby, Rebekah, graduated this month from high school.  Wow, hard to believe!  It just seems like yesterday she was going off to kindergarten.  Please tell  me, where does the time go?

So on June 13 we had an Open House.  And like everyone else, we needed to do it on the cheap.  So with little money spent, I decorated using most items I already had.  The main expenses for decorating?  Ink and paper for the pictures.  And my vintage items were great staples to display them with.

For my birthday, I had been given an Oleander tree which has the most beautiful pink flower on it.  I decided to use that as my color palate for the outside, though I typically go with white and green.  I love how the pink just seems to pop out!

This vintage ladder with the fans are displayed on my porch throughout the spring, summer and early fall.  For the Open House, I just embellished them with flowers and pictures.  I love black and white pictures so I took pictures of Rebekah and the family and scanned them onto card stock.  I then cut them with pinking shears.  Some I attached magnets to, some I attached to metal flower garden picks to and some I just attached using office clips.

We're all big fans of Rebekah!

And aren't this children's boots just the cutest!

More fans!  And I'm a big fan (oops, sorry) of cement urns.

Ahhhhh, Beks and Mom.

I picked up both the Coke cooler and the popcorn machine at a yard sale last year with the intention of using them at Bek's Open House.  They were a definite hit and added more "fun" to the party!

Another great vintage piece to hold pictures.

This piece of tin displays some more of Rebekah's pictures.

Here I have a large fern sitting in a vintage tin stand.  Ooops, another photo op!

Next post....will be of the inside.  But I think I'm done for now.  Don't want to over extend myself, now do I.  Hope this post finds you all well!  Take care and happy junking!

PS  What do you think of the new look of my blog?  I've been tweeking it a bit!

A Country Junk Sale!

Heads-up to all who live in the Minneapolis/Twin Cities Metro Area or are in need of a road trip.  It's time for another Country Junk Sale in Monticello, MN.  I was thrilled to be able to get a sneak peak to share with you.  And I'm telling you, with all the stuff there, it's worth the drive.  Located at 9650 Harding Ave. Monticello, Minnesota it opens on Friday, June 25 from 9:00 to 5:00, and on Saturday, June 26 from 9:00 to 12:00.  I'd be sure to get there early. Here's a look at what's in store.

Rakes, rakes, and more rakes.

Wheels, wheels and more wheels.

Crates, crates, and more crates.  Getting the picture?  Lots and lots of multiples.

How about some cream separators?

You'll find lots of furniture.

In fact, there's a whole driveway full!

Time for supper!

Here's a couple of extra cool pieces.

And if you know me, when there's cats to be found, I'm there.  Feel the cat love?

Someone wasn't all too happy with me, as she was bored!  And then I was wondering why my phone went dead?  Someone was playing games on it.  Ahhh....she needs to learn to be a better junker!

And then we have a lot of miscellaneous smalls, too!

Here we have just a couple of farm girls!

And then we have our gracious hosts, Larry and Cindy Moore.  Thanks for the great tour!

Weekend in St. Charles

What do you get when mix a quaint old town in Southern Minnesota, a beautify B&B, and a junk sale?  Perfection!

I was priviledged this past weekend to spend it at the Victorian Inn is St. Charles, MN with Sue Whitney of JUNKMARKET Style as guests of the self proclaimed Pfarkel Sisters!  Holding their Second Annual Vintage Treasures Market, Sue was on hand to do a book signing.  It was a great time with good friends, a good cause and just all around good junk!

We stepped back in time to this Early 1900's Victorian Mansion owned my Sharon Vreeman.

The gardens were lush and beautiful.

And the perfect spot to pitch a tent and have a sale!

And they had some great stuff to sell.

I really love how this turned out.  Beautiful!

This was an old prescription box loaded with prescriptions.  Very fun, but the question?  What would you do with it?

I purchased this unique receipt thing-a-ma-jig (like my technical term?...lol).  And no, I didn't pay $42.  I thought it was a steal at $12!

The Pfarkel Sisters with Marge aka Fosteroria, their adopted Pfarkel Sister (first on the left), joined other fellow vendors for a photo op.

In the evening, the Pfarkel Sisters prepared a spread for us.  Talk about making us feel welcome!  Love the table . . .

And what a perfect mix of hosta leaves and hydrangeas!

Nummmmmmmmy . . . good grub!

And good conversation!

We enjoyed our time with sweet little Sofie.  She was a cutie!

Cheers!

The Famous Pfarkel Sisters.  I wish I could remember their Pfarkel names.  There real names are from L to R, Janelle, Sharon and Diane.

And when we were done?  Sitting in a circle and indulging in some good conversation.

Sue and Sophie playing a little game.  Hands on hips hands on hips! Touch the floor with your finger tips. Go you chicken fat go!

And we ended the day in Diane's RV.  Sue and I opted to sleep in the B&B (I lucked out and got the Honeymoon Suite), but the vintage RV with a pink and blue theme it definitely is a cool ride!  Thanks, Pfarkels, for a great time!
