Christmas Decorations Even in the Water Closet!

If you know me, most of my home is decorated to the 9's for Christmas. Even my main floor bath has been holly-fied. Okay, maybe that's not a word, but anyway. I get so wrapped up in the Christmas spirit, not one room is without Christmas-filled with decorations. And I certainly didn't want the bathroom to feel left out, now do I?

I have this beautiful vintage cupboard in my main floor bath that was a built-in in it's former life. It's like it was made for my current home and as the seasons change, so does it's contents. It houses many of my favorite vintage pieces.

The hands on top that might hold rings or other things at Christmas time holds a linen poinsettia, along with a vintage ornament.

Alongside the hands display is a vintage scale. You know me and my scales. They are a "love" of mine.

A top the vintage scale you'll find a brown transferware commode which holds a new, but old looking bottle brush tree. And the sign? Well you always have room for some humor, especially in the bathroom!

Inside the cupboard houses more vintage goodies. Another piece of my transferware this time holds some rock salt to mimic snow and another vintage looking tree. It sits a top another project of mine. The corbal was simply stenciled and a key added. The patina is just natural perfection.

You also find this sweel little glittery deer. It's displaying another little ornament. The picture in the back is entitled "Lost" in reference to the parable of the lost sheep. And again another piece of transferware.

I have to say I love this vintage casserole bowl full of the vintage white Christmas lights. Just plain simple. And anther bottle brush tree sits next to it in a vintage looking boot. Can't have enough trees, now can you?

Another thing that I have to say I love is old ironstone that's worn, chipped and discolored. You have to wonder all the places and uses they've had. The piece on the left I'm particularly fond of.

No detail is spared. Even the latch has a little bobble on it.

Another little bit of bathroom humor. No need for an explanation....

This piece as most of you know held vintage cruets, but I love the ornaments and glittery tree in it. I love giving pieces that aren't complete an afterlife.

And it all comes together to add a little bit of festivity even in the water closet :-)

All my trees are up and decorated, shopping is done and I've finally gotten all the presents wrapped and under the tree. Let the celebrating commence! And this year I decided to have my presents have a more natural feel. I had this vintage twine, which I have to say I love. With some new faux sparkly elements and some fresh greens, I think they turned out pretty darn good if I do say so myself.

The paper I used was actually for wrapping packages to be mailed. It's a little thicker and I liked that about it. It has a very natural feel to it.

And I know some would think it's a no-no to use faux florals, but I have to say I really like how they look on the packages.

All done up and ready to open! Funny how it takes hours to decorate and only minutes to open...ha!

I love how they look under my tree.

And next to my tree I have an old mitten framed up with a vintage ball of twine. Simple and sweet.

This vintage jewelry display also works for displaying Christmas balls hung by fishing line.

And this light reflectors are a favorite of mine. They look like flowers on the tree.

The tree sits a top of a wheeled palet and is housed in vintage wicker basket. A sign finishes it off letting everyone know we say, "Merry Christmas" 'round here.

Everything's ready so let the Christmas celebrating commence!

Unique One of a Kind, Holiday Centerpiece

Sometimes when you buy things, you find out that they just seem to go together...naturally. That's the case with with these pieces. I found they had a way of fitting together just perfectly.

It started with this Pyrex piece. Not exactly sure what it was originally used for, but it's perfect as a cloche. It sits atop of an extra-large farm cultavating disc.

It think it went the otherway as having it this way makes the Pyrex stamp upside down. But then again it's also backwards as it stamped on the inside, so who knows.

There seems to have been possibly a hose or pipe that went into it as it has a hole in the top....

...which then allowed me to hang an extra-large ornament from it with fishing line.

It was hung using a thick wire which I covered up with greens and some berries.

The cloche sits atop of a post capital, which I love in and of itself. It has great patina.

Just a mixture of greens around the cloche and we have a festive centerpiece!

All Dressed Up and Ready to Celebrate!

If you come to my home, you'll be greeted by my vintage mannequin. I think she's probably from the 50's, though I'm not quite sure. But as the seasons change, so does her wardrobe. With Christmas on the horizons, I dressed her up in a festive way. Now she's all ready to join in all holiday merriment!

The first item added to her wardrobe is this linen and crinoline dress. Though it's really not vintage yet (probably from the '90's), it certainly has that feel.

And of course she needs a vintage fur wrap. This one was picked up on a road trip to Nashville...it was a steal!

With a vintage fur you have to have some bling so I added this vintage rhinestone and white stone necklace.

And not to be left out, her younger friend has a "snow" necklace; though I don't think we'll be having much snow for Christmas!

So now that we're all ready, let's get this party started!

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree...

Lucky me I have a very creative cousin, Vickie. She's been making art with vintage buttons for awhile now and I was the fortunate recipient of this jem. I just couldn't help but share it with my fellow Junkers...what do you think? Do you love it as much as I do? Great job, Cuz!

And of course it's full of glitz and shine. My Pfarkel name is Flashy after all....

There was no significance to the year 2008 when she created it. But you could say it's a nod to the year my son graduated. I guess that might symbolize a new journey for us, with minus the one child at home.

And of course every tree has to have a star on the top.

A little more bling and bobbles...

And finally hung up and displayed for all to see!

Here's another gift from my Cuz from a previous visit...

...along with this button tree comprised of buttons from my Grandmother...another love!
