Junk Revolution Contest

Check this out! One of my favorite people is sponsoring a contest where you have the chance of winning this fab necklace. Ki, at Junk Revolution, is the one offering it. All you need to do is go to her website at junkrevolution.com, post a comment and you have a chance to win! You also will have to check out her blog, junkcamp.blogspot.com, where she has some awesome ideas and info. I am fortunate enough to be again part of her annual Junk Bonanza sale that will be coming up in September as well. Check that, too, and good luck!

That's What I Call an Ice-Cycle!

Okay, I know this bike has been posted on a few blogs, but if you haven't had a chance to see it, I had to post it again! My pictures may not be as good, but how cool is this! With the spring thaw, the melted snow ran off the roof of barn (Round Barn Potting Co.) and onto this painted bicycle. You couldn't have planned it better if you tried! It's nature's art!

Here's hoping for no more winter and only Spring! For more pictures check out these blogs Round Barn Potting Co. and Mimi-Torias Designs.

Kick-off for the Junk Beautiful - Outdoor Edition in Texas!

Yahoo, ya'll! It's coming fast and furious, the release of the third edition in the series of Junk Beautiful Books. This book, Junk Beautiful - Outdoor Edition, teams Sue Whitney with Kimberly Melamed. From what I've seen in all the pre-quals to it, it's going to be another fabulous book! To kick everything off there will be a whirl wind book signing tour in Round Top, Texas.

Beginning March 31-April 4 many fun and exciting events are planned. And towards the end of the tour you can even attend the Junk Gypsy's Junk-O-Rama Prom Ball where they'll be dancing the night away! Details of this event can be found on the Junk Market Style site at http://www.junkmarketstyle.com/item/8112/kick-off-for-junk-beautiful-outdoor-edition-in-texas.

I am thrilled and honored to be attending this event with other fellow Junk Market Style members and contributors. Look for future reports and pictures! So if you are able to attend, and if you happen to see me, please be sure to say "HOWDY"!

Picture Book . . . Na, na, na, na, na na . . .

"Picture book, pictures of your mama, taken by your papa a long time ago. Picture book, of people with each other, to prove they love each other a long ago. Na, na, na, na, na na . . ."

I don't know if you know or remember that tune by the Kinks, but doing this project it kind of stuck in my head! And on that note, I may not be a great singer, but I am a repurpose kind of gal. When I found these I knew I needed them, and how great a gift would they be for a photographer! I looked them up on EBAY and they called them film holders. The ones I found on there aren't quite cool as these are, but half the fun is the hunt!

These what I had to I start with. The pictures were cut down to fit.

The "exposed" piece was removed and the picture inserted.

The "exposed" piece was then reinserted to hold the picture in place.

I love playing with the color on pictures. This was done in a black/white color, with just the color blue coming through. Gives it a vintage effect.

These turned out to be a great way to save wonderful memories of special times with friend

Find Your Style . . . at Style Minneapolis

I was thrilled to be able to visit this store, owned by Shayne Brown Barsness, that specializes in beautiful vintage, repurposed home furnishings and accessories. I was unfamiliar with this store until quite recently, but it has been around for about five years. It recently moved from it's previous location to this new location at 45th and Nicollet. Shayne was gracious enough to allow pictures to be taken (thanks Gretchen!) and share them with you.

Meet Shayne (I'm on the right) of Style Minneapolis! Love the boots. She certainly has a sense of style in every aspect! Love her!

Shayne is great at mixing it up. I loved this gold and white vignette, with just a touch of silver. They say gold is on a comeback!

Here we have a grouping of just the picture frames. Love, love, love it!

Shayne has a great selection of vintage silver!

Beautiful large cupboard!

You will also find bags, scarfs and other accessories!

The vintage jewelry she has is fabulous, many pieces re-designed!

Shayne's tablescapes are incredible and filled with so many goodies. And who's that girl???

While we were there we had great conversation! Shayne is not only a wonderful shop owner, but an all around fun gal! We couldn't have had a better time. We actually spent two hours there!

Here's the Gang from L-R Gretchen Schaumann, Julie Pierce, Me and Carolyn Olson. What a fun group!

Style Minneapolis is located at 4501 Nicollet Ave Minneapolis, MN 55419 (612) 377-3331.
