God is Good!

I usually like my posts to be light and playful and not too terriby wordy.  But I felt the urge to post something a little more on the serious side.  After seeing a few fellow bloggers' post on loved ones dying, friends being diagnosed with cancer and other devistating issues, I felt it appropriate to post something a little more solume.  Reflection is always good.

It's been a tough few years for some folks out there.  Between job losses, loved ones dying, homes being foreclosed on, problems with children, and sickness, life is hard.  But one thing I do know, God is good.  He didn't ever promise us anything otherwise.  He never told us it would always be roses and picket fences.  This is the world we live in.  Hard as it may be sometimes, we need to rely on him, and not what we see.  We've only been given this one life.  We need to make the best of what we can.  Love each other, help the hurting, feed the poor, love our children and live our life the best we can.

So when those minor things are bothering us, those little things that can drive us crazy but are so unimportant, remember those who have it so much worse.  The people suffering in Haiti, those who have lost their jobs, or those who are suffering illness.  Remember...life is hard, but God is good.   I'll leave you with the words of Carrie Underwoods song "Temporary Home".

"This is my temporary home. It’s not where I belong.  Windows and rooms that I’m passing through.  This is just a stop on the way to where I’m going.  I’m not afraid because I know this is my temporary home."

Wise and well thought out my friend.

P.S. I don't do "real" posts very often either, but sometimes it's just what God tell us to do, right? Isn't it amazing how He can provide the words to our thoughts and doubts?

God is Good all the time! Our church says it outloud many Sundays. It is so hard to read about the hurts in blogland...but the joys are so many also! Hallelujah, this world is not my home, I'm just a passin through!

Thanks Lani,
I really appreciated your post. It came at a very appropriate time(and as a reminder)for me. God works through us in ways that we may never know (how it affects another).
"God is Good" is a favorite signature of a good friend-who has had many trials and adversities in her family's life. It's a lesson worth learning-to keep our thoughts on Him, not our circumstances.

Amen! Well said. I usually do fun or light hearted post, every once in awhile I speak from my heart, just for the simple reason that people don't always respond to deep heart felt post, but you know it's refreshing to know that the blogs you read have real people with real hearts that just want to take the time to touch someone.
Thanks for sharing! I so enjoy your blog.

Very thoughtful, Lani. We need to be reminded of these things often.

Great post. You're absolutely right, this is our temporary home. Life is too short to spend it whining and complaining. Tomorrow, remind me that I said that! ;-)

Nice post Lani, I think we are afraid to talk about religion in blog land, might offend someone. I enjoyed reading your post with coffee this morning.

Have a great day!

I love this post. I have told all my friends to read it. This is exactly what I needed to read at this point in my life. I also really enjoy reading your blog. I stumbled upon it while I was searching for vintage findings.
