A Re-Design, Ala-Junk Style!

I was privileged to have Amy, a fellow blogger (Whisperwood Cottage and Junkologie) and JMS contributor, stay at my house a few weeks ago and for fun, we decided to do a re-design of my great room, of course ala-Junk Style.  Thanks to Amy for allowing me to use her amazing photographs on this post so I could show you. Remember, when redoing your areas, it's a great time to put away items you're tired of (but may not be ready to get rid of).  It's also a great time to bring out those special items you've had in storage just waiting to be shown!

This before picture looks good, but I was bored with it. And there were a few areas I was less than thrilled with.

I was definitely ready to re-do the furniture placement!

And if you're like me, two heads are better than one when your trying to re-style. Amy and I worked together great! Here's another before picture...

And the finished design!

My great room is somewhat contemporary, but the main elements are "vintage". The cloche on the coffee table I was told is actually from a farm and was used in making cream. When decorating think out of the box with the pieces you have!

We angled the furniture and made the space a little more interesting. What do you think?

The numbers in the corner were from a bus (a gift from Ms. Amy).  The birch tree brings a little of the outdoors in and makes the space more organic.

A closer look at the massive clothe. It's sits on top of a chippy pillar base.

I'm don't have much of a green thumb, but ivy's in these old beakers don't have much maintenance. Love that!

The couch needed something behind it, and this recently purchased pallet I think worked perfectly. With the vintage large wicker basket, and a few accessories, it adds to the more organic feel of the space. And well, Jazzy my cat, she finds the wicker basket the perfect place to nap!

Thanks for looking.  To enlarge the pictures to get a better view, just click on each one of them.  Hope you enjoyed the tour!

I think you two need to come on down to Texas and rework my place. What do you say?
Two heads are better than one...but that one head peeking over the couch is pretty darn cute...the perfect accessory to a beautiful redo!

Very inspiring redo Lani (and Amy) So you 2 do something besides junking when you're together? Great concept, "use what you have instead of buying more"...hmmm, I'll have to try that sometime...haha :)

Great room! I know how hard it is to photograph a room, and the pictures are just grand - good job, Amy, and good job on the decorating as always, Lani! Thanks for sharing your great taste with everyone.

I just posted on a little cart I found...now I am thinking it would be dang cute in my family room. Always a struggle to decide what should be sold and what to hold!

Have a great weekend! Andrea
