More Adventures with Ms. Sue and the Junk Gang

There was so much happening in Texas I don't hardly know where to continue. Tuesday we finished our set-up and did a little shopping at Marburger before the book signing began. There were so many amazing and unique booths there. My favorite had to be J Hill Designs, owned by Judy Hill. I absolutely loved everything in her booth. The displays were magnificent and every item was incredible. My favorite had to be the gazebo her husband had put together for her. It was made from spare parts probably from the '60's. Let me tell you, I tried everything to get this back to Minnesota! If she still has it in the fall, I'm bringing a trailer! Judy has two sales each year in her home and she sells everything to the bare wall. Wish she only lived closer. Love her! The book signing was great fun and took place between noon and 3:00 outside of the Marburger Cafe. We worked along side of Stephen from Habitat for Humanity and he was able to make lots of connections for his organization. Sue and Kimberly spent the time signing books and meeting many new and fun junk fans. The weather was a little windy, but all in all a nice day. The hammock in the booth was a huge hit and sold right away, with many asking about it only to find it was no longer available. The lamp I made for the Contributors Challenge for Junk Market Style was also donated to Habitat for Humanity and sold as it was being carried to another booth for display (they were selling piano rolls). All in all I think it was a very successful day.

Another fun and unique booth was Mandie's of The Shop Antiques. She specializes in Carnival Memorabilia. At the ripe young age of 27, there are few dealers as young as her. My favorite item she had was a duck pond that unfortunately had already been sold. Some shop owner had purchased it for special sales. "Pick a duck, any duck and win a prize!" Loved her big clown shoes, too!To finish off the day we had dinner at the Royer's Round Top Café, known for their pies. It was spent with Rick, owner of Marburger Farms and other guests. The food was wonderful and the company was even better. It made for a perfect ending to a perfect day.
