Hey, Hey, Hey . . . It's a Holiday Hay Rack!

I found this awesome hay rack at the Buffalo Nickel, an antique store where I have a booth. Guess Ol' Bessie was all done with it! I knew from the start it would look amazing with Christmas greens on my front porch. I love how it turned out! How about you?  Let me know as I love ready all your comments!

This piece had so much potential. Just needed some TLC and a little embellishing!

This is a great vintage swiss army basket, and though it doesn't fit perfectly, I loved the look of it inside the hay rack.

All this arrangement needed was some embellishments . . .

. . . some greens and some bright red berries. I have to fess up, these berries are plastic. My bad!

This dove looks mighty fine in it, too!

Okay, I have a little secret. I don't think embellishing with ribbon is my forte'. But I kind of like how this turned out. I love the architectural piece. Something I picked up at Ms. Sue's garage sale!

Here's another look at this piece's great rusty patina!

So here's the final piece in all it's glory! LOL! I think it's way too nice to used for hay! Sorry, Bessie!

Hay racks cost an arm and a leg down this way...lucky girl! I imagine there are a lot of horses eating out of a bucket in Texas!
I love the basket inside it for added dimension.

Lani - your basket is perfect inside the hay rack feeder. When I saw it at the Nickel, I wouldn't of thought it could look so cool. You've once again worked your magic.
Enjoyed the writing of your post as well.

What a cool use for a hay rack! You rock! No biggie that the berries are plastic...they will last longer and the birds won't eat them. :) Happy Fall ya'll from Houston, TX

So sweet...I wondered if this was the one from Buffalo Nickel...I had looked at this, thinking of actually putting it back to work with our goats. Next time I went in, it was gone ...... of course, it would end up beautifully decorated at your door! I'll just have to send my goats over to your place.

I love your Swiss army basket. It's hard to find those type of baskets in my area. I'm jealous you have one.
